Is he spoiled?

Before I had kids, I swore to myself that I will try my best not to spoil my own. I’ll make sure that they grow up in a disciplined environment. I told myself: “I wouldn’t have a kid who would launch in a fit of tantrum in the mall just because I didn’t buy him the toy that he likes.”
Now, I am a certified mother and I am not sure whether I have lived up to that promise or not. It’s really easier said than done.
When my first boy was born, I was always at his beck and call. The simplest sound of crying and I would be running to console him or check what he wants. He grew up sleeping with me in bed until he was about a year and one month (that was when my tummy was already way too big with my second child).
He’s now an older brother to a one year old, but we always joke around that he is the youngest because he is more of a baby than my youngest.
I try to give my kids the best of what we can afford. For me, that is not actually spoiling them. We went to a toy sale a week ago and bought them a toy each. While going around the store, we saw parents pushing trolley full of toys and just one kid with them. To my eyes, that is spoiling but buying just one toy, for me, is just giving them their chance of becoming kids and playing.
Whenever we bring them to a playground, more often than not it would be a challenge trying to get him home. He just loves playing outside – one thing that we only get to do once in a while. We would be bringing home a crying little boy especially if we didn’t stay long enough. But, of course, there are some good days when he will be saying good bye to the slide and the “weeeee” instead of crying his lungs out.
